Academic Scholarships

admissions scholarshipsBenedictine Academy offers 8th grade students the opportunity to compete for scholarships based on academic performance.

Sixteen scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:

  • results from the November COOP Admissions Exam
  • eighth grade transcript
  • two letters of recommendation from a teacher, principal, adult supervisor of a church youth group or service oriented organization
  • a formal interview to be scheduled on Saturday, January 9, 2010.

The following academic scholarships are available:

  • One St. Benedict Scholarship – A full tuition award named for the founder of the Benedictine Order, and whose tradition is taught at Benedictine Academy. 
  • One St. Scholastica Scholarship – An award valued at three-quarters of tuition, named for St. Benedict’s twin sister, who closely shared his tradition and beliefs.  
  • One Prioress Scholarship – A one-half tuition award named in honor of the Sister who oversees the Benedictine Community. 
  • Six Principal’s Scholarships – Scholarships in the amount of $1,800.
  • Eight Benedictine Circle Scholarships – Scholarships in the amount of $1,000.

Scholarships awarded to incoming 9th graders are renewable in successive school years, provided the student maintains the necessary academic average in all courses.  Ninth grade scholarship awardees will be enrolled automatically in the BA Scholars Program.  Scholarship students are expected to play an active role in school activities.
