Community Service

Benedictine Academy is a Service Leadership School.  We have been awarded the distinction of being authorized as a Presidential Volunteer Service Organization National to being named as a Service-Learning Leadership School in the Third Millennium. Service Leadership is a key component of the Mission Statement of Benedictine Academy.  Every student is required to perform a minimum of twelve volunteer service hours per year.  At Benedictine Academy, we believe helping others is part of our moral fiber for being a Christian, as well as for being a good human being.

This past year, we had the privilege of awarding 31 students with the prestigious Presidential Bronze Service Award from the White House. The criteria is that every student must perform either 100 approved independent volunteer service hours or 25 individual volunteer service hours as part of the school community (which must collectively perform 200 approved annual club service hours).

We must be a voice for the voiceless during these troubled times. It is our personal responsibility to hear the cry of the poor, and respond with a spiritual or corporal work of mercy. A few of the community service projects our school has undertaken include:

  • Building a school and a clean water system in the Sierra Leone
  • Breast Cancer Walk
