Broadway at Benedictine Theatre Program to run July 5 - July 29

THEATRE PROGRAM

We are blessed to have the talented veteran Broadway actress Liz McConahay Wanfried at the helm of our Theatre Program. Ms. Wanfried has produced and directed several varied stage performances at BA featuring our students. Spring 2009 brought a very successful dramatic production of "Quilters". Later in 2009, A Christmas Musical: "Christmas Para Todos" ("Christmas for All") was presented, featuring singing, acting and dancing. This past Spring, the troupe performed "The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon". Ms. Wanfried's talent and charisma generate tremendous enthusiasm and respect among our students. It is exciting to watch them learn and grow during play auditions and rehearsals.

Ms. Wanfried is a gifted actress who has performed on Broadway in Cabaret and Titanic, and on TV (NBC's "Third Watch" and "Unsolved Mysteries"). She studied at the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain. Ms. Wanfried currently brings her enormous energies to working with youth in regional programs and performing arts workshops. She is Head of the Musical Theatre Department at NJPAC (New Jersey Center for the Performing Arts) in Newark, where she teaches classes for teens and also directs productions for adults and teens year round. She also directs and choreographs professional productions in NY, Los Angeles and across the country.

Next in the Theatre Program lineup is "Broadway at Benedictine", a high energy musical theatre workshop focused on singing, acting and dancing. It is open to all grades, 7 to 12.
