Dual Enrollment & Internships

During the senior year, students have the opportunity to take part in our Option II program. Since its inception in the 2017-2018 school year, this program has allowed students to secure internships or Dual Enrollment status at local colleges. Students who choose to take college courses take the Accuplacer exam, administered through Union County College, during their Junior year. They then have the option to take courses at Union County College or Essex County College during or prior to senior year. We have had students graduate Benedictine Academy with 12 college credits towards their freshmen year of college. We also offer a Public Speaking course, accredited through UCC, during our regular school day. This course is available to both juniors and seniors and allows the students to obtain 3 college credits at the culmination of the course.
Students who choose the internship route of Option II are encouraged to find an internship related to what they would like to pursue in the future. This experience in their future field is essential to gaining important insight into what their desired future will look like! Over the last three years, we have had students intern at the following locations: Trinitas Hospital, St. Benedict's Prep, Overlook Hospital, the Institute of Music, and JAG Physical Therapy.
