Dr. Geraline T. Arroyo DVM is a native of Union, NJ and spent 4 wonderful years at Benedictine Academy where she participated in a variety of clubs, campus ministries, and varsity volleyball. She graduated valedictorian In June of 2011 before moving to Boston, MA to attend Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences as a pre-medicine and health studies major with a focus in veterinary medicine. While there she fostered her passion for animals and medicine by serving on the college’s Pre-Medicine Society and interning at the Museum of Science where she took care of exhibit animals and gave daily educational presentations. From there she left the East Coast to venture out to the Midwest for veterinary school at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. During her time there she rehabbed wild raptors, performed bacteriology research, helped run a large-scale exotics symposium, and even traveled to South Africa to assist with wildlife and conservation medicine. During her clinical years, she traveled around the Northeast for externships on exotic medicine, pathology, and high volume spay and neuter surgery. She had the honor of graduating with a reward demonstrating outstanding ability in veterinary radiology. Currently, she is an associate veterinarian in a busy small animal and exotics practice in Brooklyn, NY.
She could not have accomplished all this without the help of God, her family, and Benedictine Academy. Benedictine Academy’s mantra to listen, learn, love and lead were the biggest lessons she learned while being a student there. From the beginning, she was attracted to the genuineness of the Benedictine family. Their evident commitment to fostering successful young women was why she ultimately chose to attend. The sisterhood she developed with her peers is unique to the Benedictine experience and the support from the faculty and staff helped elevate her belief in herself. It is a difficult world out there for young women but Benedictine Academy showed her that there is power in standing together in womanhood and in trusting God to help guide you.
